Marshall-Putnam Farm Bureau is continuing to engage several collaborators as part of a multi-year cover crop project along the Illinois River. This project includes planting a cover crop plot and conducting soil testing.

The field day will focus on teaching attendees about the benefits of cover crops in meeting soil health and water quality goals, including identifying the top six cover crop species in Illinois and their benefits. Partners for the 2022 Nutrient Stewardship Field Day include Marshall-Putnam Farm Bureau, Illinois Farm Bureau, University of Illinois researchers, Marshall-Putnam Soil & Water Conservation District, Monier Seed, Marshall-Putnam River Conservancy District, Birkey's Farm Store, Prairie State Tractor, and Hattan Seed. A soil pit and walking tour of the site will be a feature of the field day.

RSVP by Monday, July 20th to the M-P Farm Bureau by calling (309)364-2501. Lunch will be provided.
