Trucking Regulation Meeting

On February 23, 2016, the Marshall-Putnam Farm Bureau hosted a trucking regulations meeting for Farm Bureau members of Marshall-Putnam and surrounding counties. Due to the popularity of the meeting, a second program was added to accommodate members wanting to attend.

Attendees met with Kevin Rund, Senior Director of Local Government for Illinois Farm Bureau. One group met at the Hunt Building for a hands-on demonstration of how to determine what rules apply to their specific equipment. Participants then came back to the Farm Bureau Building for lunch, which was provided by Ag View FS, and Rund provided a more in-depth presentation and answered questions from those attending.

This presentation was then followed by Tom Wise and Chuck Volpert, who are both Unit Chiefs for the Illinois Department of Transportation, who answered more in-depth questions. Topics including UCR registration, CDL licensing, USDOT numbers, CFV vs. FVD and truck inspections were all covered.

We would like to thank Jerry Read and Craig and Simm Doyle for the use of their trucks and Bob Read for the use of his building. Thanks also to Ag View FS for providing lunch to those attending.Together we can better understand the always changing rules and regulations that accompany farm life.
